  1. This weekend I decided to check out the blog and see if there were any updates, and I just happened to see this. Since I'm at home right now and I don't have a printer I decided to do this online. Wow, I found out that I really cannot draw with a track pad or even a mouse. This is very interesting to see how your brain works. At first I tended to try to draw the exact same thing on one side as it was on the other, so the face didn't come out right. After awhile though I started to get the overall profile right, and eventually I got it to almost look like the other side when my browser crashed on me. Anyway, I have a few suggestions for anyone that tries this. First, go for a pen color other than the black one because it will help you keep track of what your doing and will make it a lot easier. Second, don't give up. I had to try for about 30 minutes before I got it right. And lastly, if you have a mouse you can plug in, use it instead because the track pad is just too much of a pain. Overall I had a good time and it got my brain working, and I really enjoyed it.

  2. Well, I printed this activity out, and I attempted it in the back of my sketch book. I think it was nearly success. I drew it as asked naming the parts of the face, when I attempted to draw the otherside, the forehead was odd, i ended up drawing a big nose, and pointed lips. So i expirenced some difficulties.

  3. this was really hard.i printed it out and had to work on it forever. i ended up printing it out like three times because i kept getting too frusterated and scribleing all over the page. in the end the last one ended up better than the first one but it still really looks nothing like the other side even when i drew it without labeling the parts as a face.

  4. Everyone noticed how strangely challenging this (seemingly) simple project was. But WHY is it so hard?!?! Once we've "named" the parts as things we recognize (face, mouth, eye, etc.), our brain has a hard time letting go of the symbol. We are so attached to our symbol systems. Part of learning how to draw means saying goodbye to naming, to symbols, and just drawing what we see, instead of what our brain wants us to see.
